Easy Superfood Cookies

When you think “cookies”, you don’t really think healthy. But these 5 recipes aren’t really the case. Here are some 5-ingredient (or less!) cookie recipes that are both packed with nutritious superfoods, and easy to whip up.

1. Dark chocolate avocado cookies

Superfoods in their own right, avocados are high in healthy fats that reduce inflammation. But that’s not all the health benefits of these gooey, moist cookies! The dark chocolate in them reduces heart disease risk and improves brain function too.


  1. 2 small ripe avocados (¾ cup)
  2. Coconut sugar (½ cup)
  3. Dark cocoa powder (½ cup)
  4. Dark chocolate chips (1 cup)
  5. ½ teaspoon baking soda


  1. Preheat oven to 177°C.
  2. Process avocado and sugar with a mixer.
  3. Mix in the cocoa and baking soda.
  4. Stir in chocolate chips by hand.
  5. Spoon cookies onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes.

2. Dragon fruit and chia seed jam drops

Here are some buttery, lightly sweet morsels that won’t pack on the pounds. We used Doki Doki’s dragon fruit puree for this recipe. Loaded with Chia seeds, antioxidants, and Omega-3, it’ll give you a health boost even as you snack.


  1. Softened butter (¾ cup)
  2. Sugar (⅔ cup)
  3. 2 egg yolks
  4. All purpose flour (1¾ cups)
  5. Doki Doki Dragon Fruit Omega-3 Puree (2 packets) (shop here)

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2. Mix softened butter, sugar and egg yolks until creamy.
  3. Add in all purpose flour slowly.
  4. Roll dough into 24 little balls. Poke a hole in each ball and fill them with puree.
  5. Bake in the oven at 180°C for 10-12 minutes (until golden brown).

3. Sweet potato coconut oat cookies

Ladies, fight aging with these sweet potato cookies. The orange pigments in them prevent premature skin aging and wrinkles. And each cookie contains just 17g of healthy carbs (from the sweet potatoes and oats!) and 5g of fat for a guilt-free treat.


  1. Quick oats (2 cups)
  2. Mashed sweet potatoes (1 cup)
  3. Fine unsweetened coconut (1 cup)
  4. 25 organic stevia drops or any sweetener (like maple syrup)


  1. Preheat oven to 177°C.
  2. Add all ingredients to a bowl. Mix well.
  3. Form dough into 12 equal-sized balls, then shape each ball into a cookie.
  4. Bake for 9 minutes.

4. Date cookies with coconut and hemp seed

A chewy and gooey delight, these date cookies pack lots of nutrients in each bite. The hemp seeds in them contain vitamin B2 for healthy skin and eyes. And with no processed sugars, nibbling on a few won’t pack on the pounds.


  1. 15 pitted dates (regular dates, not dried ones)
  2. Rolled oats (½ cup)
  3. Unsweetened shredded coconut (¼ cup)
  4. Hemp seeds (¼ cup)
  5. 1 teaspoon baking powder


  1. Preheat oven to 177°C.
  2. Mix baking powder and oats in a bowl.
  3. Add dates to high speed blender or food processor. Pulse a few times.
  4. Add remaining ingredients and blend/process until it forms a dough.
  5. Roll dough into about 12 1 inch balls and place on baking tray. Flatten the balls to form a cookie shape.
  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes (8 minutes for more gooey cookies, 10 minutes for harder ones).

5. Chocolate chia seed cookies with dates

Chewy and crunchy, these date-based cookies are the natural solution to smoother skin and anti-aging. That’s because they’re high in skin superstars Vitamin C and D! Plus, the fiber from chia seeds improves digestion as you eat your way through the week.


  1. 180g ground almonds (1½ cups)
  2. 12 medjool dates (1 cup)
  3. 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  4. 3 tablespoons almond milk
  5. 40g dark chocolate chips


  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C, fan setting.
  2. Place all the ingredients (except the dark chocolate chips) in a food processor. Whizz until it forms a cookie dough.
  3. Once mixed, add the dark chocolate chips. Whizz again to mix.
  4. Scoop the mixture out with a tablespoon. Roll each tablespoon of mixture into balls and place them on a lined baking sheet.
  5. Once you have about 12 round balls, press them to form cookie shapes.
  6. Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
